WHAT'S THIS VIDEO ABOUT?
I walk through a project for a Canadian landscaping company called Master Sealer, where I automated their quoting and invoicing process, fixed DNS and deliverability issues that were sending emails to spam, and moved their hosting from AWS to Vercel. Those changes saved them 10+ hours a week, added roughly $430,000 CAD in quotations that customers were never seeing before, and cut $500 a year in hosting costs. I go through what broke, what I fixed, and the actual numbers behind it.

Auto-generated transcript So I've recently been working with a Canadian landscaping company called MasterSealer. I've helped these guys generate over $430,000 Canadian dollars in quotations, save more than 10 hours every single week just by automating all of their repetitive work, and as a cherry on top, save $500 every single year just in the hosting fees. And I forgot to mention over here, but I also helped them fix numerous security issues and mailing deliverability issues in their DNS records. So these guys reached out to me to solve a number of issues that they were having. First of all, they were wasting hours every single week doing things manually that a machine can do faster and more accurately, which is the plague of every single non-technical business owner. Not only that, but they were having way too many issues with their email deliverability, which was costing them so much in revenue that when we fixed the email deliverability issues, that directly led to $430,000 Canadian dollars just in quotations that were all previously landing in spam. And while working on all of these different things for MasterSealer, I also found some opportunities to save costs in their tech stack, right? I suggested a few solutions and obviously nobody says no to saving money, right? So we implemented them and we were also able to bring down expenses a lot. All in all, I helped MasterSealer save 10 hours every single week on quotations and invoicing work by building them a bunch of automated workflows. I helped improve mail deliverability by 50.61%. Yes, I actually calculated this, which directly led to 430K Canadian dollars in quotations that were all previously landing in spam. And now they land directly in users' inboxes. I also helped them save $500 every single year on hosting fees. We're going to go through how I actually did that. And I found numerous security issues and mailing issues in their DNS records, which I then helped them fix as well. So we achieved a lot together, me and this client of mine. And the rest of this video is going to be a detailed breakdown of all these different things that we achieved together and the business outcomes that I've helped them produce. So the very first thing that I helped these guys with is their customer quotation process. They were doing all of this manually. Before I hopped onto the scene, Johnny, the CEO of this company, was spending hours every single week doing all of these steps manually, collecting the customer information, generating the PDF, filling in everything, sending the emails, you know. And the problem with the whole chain is every single step you see over here is very, very easy to do with a machine. It doesn't take a smart frontier LLM. It just takes a bunch of simple code. Like it's a step by step process that can easily be automated by a simple Python script. So why are we doing all of this manually So I proposed an automated system to help fix all of that right I built a custom web app in Django that helps Johnny fill in all the customer information and then it automatically handles everything after that you know the generating the PDF template adding it to the email sending emails out to the customers and tracking all of their status and everything. All of it happens automatically and because of this, the company is now saving 10 plus hours every single week on quotations and invoicing work that they were doing manually previously, but now I've automated all of it. Next, I also helped these guys achieve a 50.61% improvement in their email deliverability. So MasterSealer was having issues with their emails not being able to deliver to users who have an Outlook or a Hotmail email address. And this was causing a lot of problems in their business, right? As a business, you need to be able to contact your customers, right? And if your emails are landing in spam, that's a huge problem. So the solution I proposed is to migrate to Google Workspace and take advantage of Google's reputation to help emails deliver better in users' inboxes. I handled the entire migration process over here and also helped fix numerous issues in the mastersealer.com DNS records that were actually preventing emails from landing in users' inboxes. things like the SPF records, the DKIM, DMARC records. I'm not going to go into detail on what these records actually mean and do because I'm making this video for a non-technical audience. But yeah, I had to fix a lot of issues in the DNS records as well that were preventing emails from landing in the inbox. So I checked the stats and this one change along with obviously fixing the DNS records, right? Migrating to Google Workspace and fixing the DNS records. These two changes led to a 50.61% improvement in email deliverability, which made it so that we could send more quotations. And those quotations generated $430,000 Canadian dollars. All of this was previously landing in spam, so no customer would ever see it. But now it lands directly in users' inboxes. Like imagine the revenue that this business now generates all because I fixed their email deliverability issues. I wouldn't be surprised if they're making an extra $300,000 to $400,000, like an extra $300,000, $400,000 just from this one change that I helped them fix. Also, if you're wondering why this says client one and client five and client 11 and 20, it's because I've redacted the email addresses of B2B clients and I've used estimates over here for the revenue and everything just to protect my client's anonymity. So if you're some competitor watching this video hoping to get a leg up yeah this is not the video to do that i also helped master sealer migrate from aws to worsell which helped them save 500 every single year in hosting because they were spending like 500 every single year on aws hosting i migrated them to worsell and now they don have to pay a cent because they comfortably sitting in the Vercel free tier And before migrating to Vercel, MasterSealer was hosted on an AWS EC2 instance and there were several problems with this. One, this is an internal business app. So it's only used certain times of the day when Johnny, the CEO, is sending quotations. But the EC2 instance was live 24-7, which was costing us money by the hour, right? Secondly, all of our data is stored in a separate database. All of our emails are sent via SMTP and Google Workspace. There is literally no need for us to have a dedicated server. We're not using any server resources other than just hosting an app. So why pay for the entire thing? Thirdly, the business is seasonal. Just because of the industry they operate in and the work that they do, the business doesn't run for three to four months every single year. So having an unused running VPS that's just running all year round was a huge waste, obviously, right? Imagine a VPS that's running for like eight months of the year and you're not even using it at all. And it's just costing you money every single hour it's online. That's a huge waste, right? Just this AWS hosting alone was costing us $500 every single year for no good reason. We weren't using like most of it. So I proposed moving to Vercel, but we did have some problems moving to Vercel as well. namely in pdf file generation for those of you who don't know Vercel is like a serverless platform you don't need to know what that means exactly but in a nutshell we weren't able to modify the system packages and libraries and I actually needed a few system packages and libraries to facilitate pdf generation and I wasn't able to do that so finding a bunch of workarounds for that was a bit of a challenge but I made it work and now MasterSealer is saving $500 every single year because of this one change. Especially because Vercel offers a free tier, a very very generous free tier and since this is an internal app that doesn't get too many users because only the company employees are using it, this app comfortably falls under the Vercel free tier which means they don't pay a single cent now all thanks to me migrating them from AWS to Vercel. Finally I hope these guys fix numerous security issues and mailing issues in their DNS records because in Johnny's own words, the tech support of the company where they bought the domain was not as technical as they should have been. Let's just put it that way. They have people in tech support addressing these settings, but they don't have the knowledge to do it properly. Every time I open a ticket, it's a different guy trying something else. Emphasis on trying, by the way. So why am I paying this kind of money if it's just shit? Yeah, not surprised. This is me, by the way. Yeah, not surprised. They're trying to close the ticket, not give you the best performance or service. You really gotta have a dedicated guy for things like that because these other guys just won give a fuck This email thing is almost debilitating for a business How much time was wasted on making sure people received an email Yeah this is a good point These email deliverability issues were lasting for like three or four months before MasterSealer reached out to me to fix all of this. Imagine the kind of revenue that they could have generated during that time because these stats, where are my stats? This $430K Canadian dollars figure, I got this from the last 90 days. of this business's performance. So imagine making an extra 300 to 400k every single like three to four months and you were just missing out on that because your emails were landing in spam because the domain company you used don't know what the fuck they're doing with their DNS records. It really just goes to show you why it's such a good idea to have a dedicated guy on your team who can handle technical things like these. And if you want someone who actually cares about your business, your product and wants to see you do well and isn't just looking to make a quick buck, you should really book a call with me. And I'm not just saying that because I'm trying to sell myself to you. I am trying to sell myself to you. But like Johnny and Master Sealer is just one of many clients that have been working with me for the last, I don't know, three, four years now. And the reason they keep working with me, the reason they keep hiring me for more and more projects is because they know that I'm reliable and I'm there with them when shit inevitably hits the fan. Most of my client relationships end up lasting for many, many long years. And I think that tells you more about the way I work than any fancy portfolio piece that I could show you over here. So back to the video. Numerous security issues and mailing issues in the DNS records over here because the tech support wasn't as technical as they should have been. I'm not going to go into detail on what all of these mean but needless to say I fixed each and every one of them and after fixing all of these issues not only did we improve email deliverability by a lot but we also patched all of these security issues in these problems right so i got hired to fix email deliverability issues and streamline a bunch of repetitive work right and as always i ended up achieving a lot more saving 10 plus hours every single week on quotations and invoicing work improving mail deliverability by 50.61 which again led to 430k canadian dollars of quotations that were previously landing in spam and now they land directly in users inboxes and also helping them save 500 every single year on hosting fees and fix numerous security and mailing issues in their dns records if you're looking for a developer who can help you achieve similar results whether that's building custom software ai automations full stack apps i've got like six years of experience working in this industry and like a hundred happy testimonials and if you just book a call with me right now you could be one of those happy testimonials in the very near future so book a call with me right now and let me help you take your business to the next level.
